Art
St. Gertrude's art program strives to teach the craft, skill and technique of art production by providing demonstrations, materials and encouragement. Students provide the imagination!
Program Features:
  • Graded Course of Study for Art
  • Weekly, structured 1 hour classes for grades 1-3; 80 minutes for grades 4-8
  • Emphasis on art criticism, history of art, art production and expression
  • Students recognize and utilize principles of design
  • Students experience variety of media and techniques for art expression and production
  • Students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving and develop positive self-esteem
  • Enrichment activities for grades 6-8 for more individual attention
  • Fine Arts Day: a culmination of all things art, bringing in guest artists, art demonstrations, as well as the annual student art show
  • Full-time certified art teacher
