St. Gertrude School seeks to provide a Christ-centered atmosphere for students in which students grow in knowledge, truth, and love. Rich in the Dominican heritage, St. Gertrude School values teaching the truths of our Catholic Faith. Currently teachers are using textbooks by William H. Sadlier Company. These include:
We BelieveKindergarten and 1st Grade
Coming to Faith2nd through 6th Grade
Faith and Witness7th and 8th Grade
"Inspired by the teaching and Tradition of the Catholic Church, lessons present content which is faithful to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and represent the spirit of the General Directory for Catechesis."
Religion classes are taught daily providing students with many different opportunities for faith-formation. Daily prayer, rosary, weekly Mass, monthly Eucharistic adoration, and annual events including Rosary Procession, May Crowning, and Youth Rally are important elements of the St. Gertrude School faith formation. Sacramental preparation takes place in second grade for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, and in the eighth grade for the sacrament of Confirmation.
