![]() Social Studies
The Archdiocesan Graded Course of study for Social Studies was approved in 2003. The introduction, we read the purpose of the study:
"In cooperation with other subject areas, the social sciences aim at sharpening the analytical abilities of the students to identify, define, and resolve social problems.
Intellectually and effectively, the social sciences attempt to give students that global perspective which will help them become responsible citizens of the world community.
The unique aspect of the social sciences as taught in a Catholic school consists of an emphasis based on peace and justice and the dignity and sacredness of the human person. In a Catholic school, students of social studies will marvel at the beauty of God's creation and be strengthened by their faith because of it." |
